Yoga for Kids & Teens
Kids need yoga, too!
Yoga and mindfulness can help kids and teens build confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience. My goal is to help kids explore their inner power and equip them with mental and emotional tools to better face life’s challenges. I have been in education spaces for over 15 years and have seen first-hand the power and positive impact of yoga and mindfulness in kids, families, and schools. Explore the power of yoga for kids!

Why yoga for kids?
"Being mindful means having your mind on what you are doing. It's the opposite of rushing or doing too many things at once. To be mindful, you slow down to take your time. You do one thing at a time. You focus on what you're doing in a calm way."

In Kids Yoga, we talk a fair amount about mindfulness and meditation. And we also try to debunk the notion that either of those things need to be done sitting still. Every kid's yoga class, for the last 10 minutes or so, we practice getting quiet and doing one thing at a time. Whether it's candle gazing, resting, building something, drawing or coloring, helping me pack up the mats... The expectation is that they don't have to be still, but they do need to be quiet and try to move slowly.

We don't really think of kids being busy, or stressed, or over scheduled, but it definitely happens a lot. They get overwhelmed and overstimulated, just like the rest of us, but it shows up in different ways. So many times I'm tempted to skip this practice because the kids just seem way too bananas to settle down! But every time, in just a few minutes, we transition from super wound up kids, to a collective sense of calm and moving move slowly. Happens every time. Amazes me every time. But you don't need to take my word for it, see for yourself!
